Sergi Roberto figures to play a big role for Barcelona this season with his versatility proving invaluable.

“Luis Enrique told me he had confidence in me,” said Roberto.

“I would have liked to have played more last season but now I can play in more positions. I’ve never played at full-back before but I quite like it. All I want to do is play games and help the team in whatever position I have to.”

Roberto's versatility gives him optimism for his season.

“To be versatile is good for me. I don’t know where I will play last minutes, in the middle last season there was Xavi, and now there is Arda, although he can’t play until January, there are possibilities. From the pivot I played in last season to give Sergio rest, this season I have the option of playing out wide.”
