Carlo Ancelotti has turned down an offer to return to AC Milan.

Ancelotti was fired last week as manager of Real Madrid.

Ancelotti held talks with Milan's general manager Adriano Galliani in Madrid last week, but after taking a few days to consider the offer, he called Galliani on Tuesday night to say he was turning him down.

Ancelotti is scheduled to take a one-year break to undergo surgery on a long-standing back problem.
