West Ham has confirmed the club will not renew the contract of Sam Allardyce.

Allardyce now plans to take a break from soccer to "re-charge" and spent time with family.

Confirming that their parting - by “mutual consent” - had been amicable, Allardyce said he had no plans to be back in a technical area by the start of next season. “No, I don’t want to be in charge of a football club in August,” he said. “If and when I come I need to have re-charged my batteries. It might be year’s time, it might be Christmas time, it’s just when the right job comes up but I can’t see myself being in charge of a football club at the start of next season.”

Allardyce spent four seasons with West Ham, guiding them to promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs in 2012 and top-flight finishes of 10th, 13th and 12th.
