Carles Puyol is considering a return to competitive soccer either in the United States or Middle East.

Sport claims that MLS side Colorado Rapids have made contact with a "big offer" of a contract, while rival publication Mundo Deportivo says that a team in New York are best placed, although neither cite club sources.

Puyol, 37, retired from the game at the end of the 2013-14 season, after struggling with persistent serious knee problems for over two years.

Currently living in New York with his partner, Puyol has reportedly been working hard on his fitness.
