Nolito has been called up to the Spanish National Team for the first time in his career at the age of 28.

“I was a little nervous when he was saying who was called up, I heard my name and it’s an incredible joy.  I’m very happy, it’s a dream come true.  Every player dreams of representing their country and I’m very happy to be called-up for the first time in my life.”

Nolito went on to add that playing in Huevla, an hour and a half from his home town of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Cádiz and the other in Vigo, is a massive motivator.

“To play in Vigo with my fans and my people, there couldn’t be anything better.  I’m very happy and we’ll see what happens.  I’ve always dreamt of this but it’s difficult to get here with the players they have.

“This is credit to all of my teammates for the work they’ve done, I’m going to the team but without their help, I may never have made it.  Celta is my team and I have to express my gratitude to my teammates.  I’m very happy here at Celta and we have to keep working and improving because the best is yet to come.

“Everything in life is difficult.  You never know what’s going to happy but I’m going to keep working hard, improving because you never know when the last train is leaving the station.  I’ve been working towards this for many years and it’s an incredible joy because of the bad times I’ve had in my career.  It’s a great rewards, it’s the best thing that’s ever happened in my life.

“I’d like to do great things with Celta, play for something great because they helped me become a footballer again.  And to keep making it to the national team, I aspire for the best.  Right now my phone is blowing up, it doesn’t stop ringing.”
