Manchester United have been given renewed hope of signing Jackson Martinez from Porto despite reports suggesting he was close to a move to Roma.

Porto is thought to be holding out for a club to pay Martinez's £40 million release clause.

Agent William Lara said: "The price remains the same? It's hard to say now. It depends on supply and demand and at this time Porto are focussed on other things.

"[Roma] is a big club, no doubt. Porto at this time has not yet initiated any contact about this matter. It has other matters to think about."

"The situation is critical, not the best. Porto are focused on this season finale, this situation will be evaluated later."
