Robert Lewandoski has scored just one goal in his first six appearances for Bayern Munich, but Pep Guardiola has defended the play of his new striker.

"I am very satisfied with Lewandowski's performances," Guardiola said at a press conference.

"He has had two to three chances in each game. He is a very intelligent striker and always finds himself in the right position.

"He doesn't have as much space here at Bayern as he was used to at Dortmund. They played on the counterattack more often."

Lewandowski joined Bayern from Dortmund on a Bosman transfer this summer after scoring 74 Bundesliga goals for BVB in the past four seasons.
