UEFA Could Postpone European Championship To 2021

UEFA are discussing the possibility of postponing this summer's European Championships to 2021.

European football's governing body will hold a video conference to discuss the potential move.

The Euros are currently scheduled between June 12th through July 12th.

Recent suspensions of domestic and European leagues and matches could potentially clash with the current start date of the Euros.

UEFA To Discuss Future Of 2020 Euros Next Week

UEFA will have a meeting with board members of the European Club Association to discuss their response to coronavirus.

"Discussions will include all domestic and European competitions, including UEFA EURO 2020," released the organization in a statement.

The 2020 European Championships are currently set to start on June 12th.

La Liga and Serie A recently suspended their domestic leagues, further complicating the start date for the Euros.

UEFA executives are set to meet on Monday, with Euro 2020 and coronavirus expected to be on top of their agenda. 

The European Championship is set to take place across 12 countries. 

Cases of coronavirus have been reported in Spain, the UK, Germany, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Norway and Austria. Several Serie A matches were cancelled this weekend. 

UEFA have no plans to postpone or cancel the tournament as of now, though they are monitoring the situation.

Luka Modric has won FIFA's The Best award for 2018, ending the decade-long streak held by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo and Messi had won every FIFA World Player of the Year award, which was renamed the FIFA Ballon d'Or in 2010 and The Best in 2016, since 2007 when Kaka was victorious.

Modric was critical in Real Madrid winning the Champions League again this season as well as leading Croatia to the World Cup Final.

Croatia defeated England 2-1 to advance to the World Cup Final where they'll play France.

England went up 1-0 with a Kieran Trippier goal in the fifth minute, but Ivan Perisic equalized in the 68th minute and Mario Mandzukic scored the winner in the 109th minute to give Croatia the win.

France defeated Belgium on Tuesday by a final score of 1-0.
