Rapids Sack Anthony Hudson After Winless Run

May 1, 2019 10:23 PM

The Colorado Rapids fired Anthony Hudson as they remain the only winless team in MLS with a 0-7-2 record.

Hudson said his squad would get relegated, if it existed, following a loss last week.

"Today was just another example of the real gulf in class. I think every single game we're playing against teams and their DPs are making a difference. People think we are on the same level, we're not. If this was a promotion-and-relegation league, we'd have been relegated by now," said Hudson.

Tim Howard To Retire At End of MLS Season

Jan 31, 2019 2:45 PM

Tim Howard announced that he will retire at the end of the 2019 MLS season.

"It's been one heck of a ride. This is something that's been on my radar for a number of years now, probably since I signed with Colorado. I knew that the length of the contract would take me to being 40, and it seemed like the right time. I've always had my sights set on this, and there are other things I want to do. For a lot of those reasons I wanted to make sure that this would be the end. The timing just makes a lot of sense to do it now before the season to get that out of the way so that it's not a distraction. That's what's most important to me. I feel great. It's not something I thought about last night. It's a decision I've been very comfortable with for quite a long time in my own head and heart. I feel good," said Howard.

The 39-year-old keeper added that he would not pursue a career in coaching following his retirement.

Nov 28, 2016 2:53 PM

Jermaine Jones has said that he would like to play again in Major League Soccer as he heads into free agency.

Jones said he would like a pay raise that returns him closer to the $3.05 million he made with New England last year before the Rapids acquired him in March for $650,000.

Jones is open to returning to Europe.

"People know that I came to this league as a [designated player] and this is where I want to go back to," Jones told the Denver Post. "I'm a free agent now. I will sit back and see what comes. I'm not scared to go back to Europe or scared to go to Mexico or somewhere."
